Skylights, open-bricked walls, and Crittall-style frames – what more could a stylish homeowner ask for? Our designers truly delivered with this single-storey rear extension and internal redesign.
Working with Resi was the first time these homeowners worked with an architect, so it was up to us to deliver the goods.
The goal of the project
They wanted a ground-floor kitchen/diner rear extension and a second-floor internal redesign and requested our help to:
Design the extension
Obtain planning permission, and
Secure building regulations approval Fulfilling building regulations
Our team accompanied this homeowner through every stage of the architectural design process; from concept to architectural design, securing planning approval, and drawing up a complete building regulations package. The latter includes a set of drawings which show builders all the technical details such as structure, drainage, ventilation, insulation, etc., which are needed to build in compliance with the local council and national standards and make sure there were no nasty surprises.
Also, the ground-floor extension would be located near a public pipe so our team made sure to undertake a CCTV Drainage Survey and contact Thames Water to secure approval for the build.
Ground floor kitchen-dining space in rear extension
Combining a rustic and industrial aesthetic, our designers opened up the back of this Tooting house to invite light, space, and style. The ending result was a stunning and bright new space with a kitchen and dinning room. We also made sure that this new area benefited from all the natural lighting it needed with skylights and crittall-style frames with view on their outside green space.
Second-floor internal redesign
To fulfil the homeowner needs, the second-floor of the house needed a revamp. Our designers worked on transforming a big and spacious room into a smaller guest bedroom and a separate home office. The bathroom was also rearranged to allow more space and to add a roof light for optimal lighting.
