This property is owned by a pair of London photographers who knew all about the importance of natural light. As they specialised in beautiful food photography, they wanted a kitchen where they could enjoy family meals and use it as their studio. Ready to deliver the goods, our architects rolled up their sleeves to bring this Ealing studio to life.

We combined two flats into one

At the start of this project, this property was two separate flats. Consequently, our first job was to bring these two separate living spaces back together. We eliminated the top floor kitchen and turned it into a new walk-in wardrobe, while the bedroom downstairs was transformed into a light and bright living room. We also included three bathrooms alongside three bedrooms upstairs, turning two dingy flats into one spacious family home.

We added a rear extension

To help give these homeowners the modern kitchen they craved, we added a rear extension to help give them more room to play with. Adding a large set of bi-fold doors at the back helped increase the space and better connect the garden to the house. We also included skylights for a boost of natural light, ensuring the entire space was as bright as possible.

We remembered the practical touches

To keep the kitchen as beautiful as possible, we included a utility room under the stairs. This allowed for unsightly items such as dirty laundry and bulky appliances to sit out of sight. Not only did it free up space by confining these things to typically dead space, but it also stopped those beautiful photos being marred by pants drying on a clothes horse!
